Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, His Excellency President of India on 4th October 2002, inaugurated this unit, first of its time in Tripura. This unit is linked with Care Hospital, Hyderabad for Tertiary Level Consultation and RGM Hospital, Kailasahar for Secondary Level Consultation.

Sri Tapan Chakraborty, Hon’ble Health Ministry of Tripura, inaugurated the next phase on 9th June 2005. In this phase this unit has been linked with Amarpur Sub Division Hospital, Gandacherra Sub Divisional Hospital, Chailengta Sub Divisional Hospital and Kanchanpur Sub Divisional Hospital.

Webel ECS, Kolkata, executed the project and Software is provided by IIT, Kharagpur, West Bengal. Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Govt. of India has funded the project.

This unit was launched in 2003. With the help of this unit a patient from distant places of Tripura can do Tele booking of investigation like MRI, CT Scan, Ecocardigraphy, Ultra Sonography, EEG, Gastroendoscopy, TMT, X-Ray etc in G.B.P. Hospital on advice of a Doctor.
